Harvest of Diamonds: Our Seventh Annual Field’s Pond Ice Harvest
Come out onto the frozen surface of Field’s Pond and see how large cakes of ice, once Maine’s second-largest export, were harvested to keep the world’s food supply fresh and cool.
The Curran Homestead is a non-profit educational center that preserves and perpetuates the culture, values and lifestyle of the family farm in rural eastern Maine and relies upon membership, donations, and our local community for support.

Sugar from the Forest: Our 19th annual Maple Syrup Festival and Irish Celebration
We’ll be turning sap into maple syrup on the woodstove, and there will be Irish music and food in celebration of the Curran family’s Hibernian ancestry.
Saturday, April 25, 2015, 930 a.m. - 245 p.m.:
Girl Scout program: Living-history workshops at The Farm.

Saturday, May 30, 2015:
Memorial ceremony for the late Linda Haagen. We will gather to remember our neighbor and friend Linda, whose recollections enhanced our knowledge and understanding of the Curran siblings, and whose nearby Loon Hollow cottages gave so many the opportunity to experience the natural beauty of Field’s Pond and its flora and fauna.
Friday-Saturday-Sunday, June 5-6-7, 2015:
Blowout in the Barnyard: Our annual Yard Sale Fundraiser. 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. "One man’s trash is another man’s treasure;" come and find yours at our sale. Please note: All items for sale have been donated for the express purpose of generating operating revenue for the farm; none have been removed from the museum collection.

Our annual Summer Festival to culminate Orrington’s Old Home Week.

Open House in conjunction with Maine Open Farm Day.
Tour our small family farm and learn how life has changed during the past century.
Friday-Saturday-Sunday, August 28-29-30, 2015: American Folk Festival Fundraiser in Bangor, 9 a.m. - 9 p.m daily.
Come and enjoy Bangor's annual festival of music, and leave your car securely parked at Penobscot Plaza; proceeds provide vital operating revenue for The Farm and its educational programs.
Saturday, October 10, 2015, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.:
Our annual Harvest Festival.
The crops are in and the woodshed is full; another season is upon us. The cider press will be turning, and we will be baking cookies in the oven of the kitchen’s wood cookstove. Come and sample the fruits of our labor amidst the beauty of autumn at Field’s Pond.
Jitterbug Pulling Challenge at 11:00 a.m.
Come see clever home-engineered c. 1930 vehicles pull tons and tons of weight in an exciting challenge to see who gets the “bragging rights!”
